About the blogger

This site was created by Rick Lehrbaum, an entrepreneur and innovator in the embedded devices market with extensive hardware, software, and product development expertise — from both the hands-on and C-level executive perspectives.

Lehrbaum co-founded Ampro Computers, a leader in “embedded PC” single-board computers and originator of the PC/104 standard, and served as the company’s CTO from 1983 through 1999. In 2000 he created LinuxDevices.com, which was acquired by ZDNet/CNET in mid-2000 and was re-acquired by Lehrbaum in 2001. The business subsequently evolved into a group of four technology websites and was acquired in 2004 by Ziff Davis Media, where Lehrbaum served as VP and Executive Editor through 2007.

In addition to publishing and blogging on DeviceGuru, Lehrbaum currently provides consulting services to companies in the embedded market. Areas of specialty include strategic planning, business development, market analysis and messaging, product definition, and third-party relationships.
